Health and Wellness in Bagar

Piramal Hospital

Bagar’s Primary Health Care facility was established by the Piramal family as was its only state-of-the-art health clinic, Piramal E-Swaasthya. Piramal Hospital employs five doctors and offers a variety of free services including TB testing, dehydration treatment, and malaria check-ups. It is located in Bagar near the Piramal Haveli. As a result of a government initiative, the hospital also offers monetary incentives for pregnant women who choose to come give birth at the hospital rather than at home.

One of the main problems in Bagar is the drinking water which contains high levels of fluoride. Though these levels are not as high as other towns in the Jhunjhunu district, it still poses a threat. High fluoride levels can lead to fluorosis of the bones and teeth. Fluorosis causes discolored and brittle teeth and painfully weakens bones and the skeletal system. However, fluorosis can be very easily prevented by drinking clean water, such as Mridul which is distributed by Piramal Water outside Piramal Boys School on the main road.

Dr. Nathu Singh Shekhawat explains that most of the illnesses he sees on a regular basis are seasonal and include diarrhea and typhoid. Below you will find more resources on some common diseases in the community and how to prevent them.
